Polarised Lenses – See Without Squinting

Polarised sunglasses are designed to reduce glare. Glare is that thing that happens when the sun reflects off a surface such as water, snow or glass and blinds you. It may not blind you… but you’ll have to squint and strain to see clearly. Polarised sunglasses help you see details more clearly, avoid potential hazards and take a break from squinting.

How do Polarised Lenses Work?

First, let’s talk about what is unpolarised. A candle emits unpolarised light. It comes at random angles and in all directions. Polarised light happens when light reflects off something like water or the hood of a car and is then emitted horizontally. It’s this horizontal direction that causes glare. Glare has the potential to be dangerous – especially while driving or walking near a snowy cliff on a sunny day.
A special chemical, laminated in a vertical pattern, is applied to each lens to make it polarised. This pattern blocks the light that is horizontal and eliminates glare. Light only travels in one direction through polarised lenses and only the useful vertical light is allowed to enter the eye.

Advantages Over Non-Polarised Lenses

Reduced eye strain

Improved visual clarity and contrast

Colours appear brighter and clearer

Increased time outdoors enjoying water and snow sports

Polarised Lenses are Ideal For:

Driving – Low winter sun and sudden glare will be a thing of the past.

Snow – Whether skiing, snowboarding or trekking through the Alps on a sunny day, your eyes will thank you.

Water – No more squinting while waiting for the big wave, fishing or lounging by the pool.

It’s important to note that the visibility of certain displays – smartphone, dashboards, GPS devices, or other LED and LCD displays – can be reduced with polarised sunglasses. Good to know if you’re the one flying the plane or searching for your favourite radio station in the car. We don’t want you to be blinded while running, driving, sailing, skiing, or relaxing at the beach. We don’t believe that you should have to forgo style for visual comfort either. We have styles such as polarised browline sunglasses, polarised aviator sunglasses, polarised retro sunglasses and more. Take a look at our selection and give your eyes the love they deserve – squint-free.
